One of the most convenient features of Lufthansa Airlines is the ability to select your preferred seat. You can get a seat allocated to you during online check-in if you do not choose a seat. It can be changed for free based on the fare and seat category selected. This fee is not payable by the passengers who have booked a seat in advance if the newly selected seat is of the same or a lower seat category.
Different Seat Classes Available
You can decide to reserve any type of seat and book it in advance. This option is there whether you choose an aisle or a window seat. The price for reserving a Classic seat depends on the length and destination of your flight, and is free on some fares.
This seat is located right at the front of the economy class. You have the privilege of being able to exit the aircraft easily after landing which makes your journey even more flexible. The price of reserving the Preferred Seat Zone is based on the length of your flight and the destination. It is free on some fares.
More space with more comfort in the Economy Class. There is an extra space of 8 cm in here. You can enjoy and relax as much as you like here.
Prices for these seats on the flights range from EUR 50 to 80.
The extra legroom seat is available on almost all aircraft. You can select this seat as your choice. Some special conditions apply to book some seats, as they belong to the emergency exit rows. The prices depend on the length and destination of your flights.
This Classic seat is very comfortable. With a small cocktail tray and a hard-shell seat that offers more privacy, you will have additional privacy and extra comfort. Wireless charging is provided. You can attain the greatest comfort on long-haul flights with First Class. Selecting a seat is free of cost.
This provides the utmost privacy and comfort possible. Whether travelling as a couple or alone, Suite Plus is everything you could wish for. Plenty of room, a wardrobe en suite, a large mirror, and privacy to work or relax as much as you like with two individually controlled extra-wide seats that can be converted into a big single or double bed.
This suite offers privacy with 1.80-meter-high partitions and fully closable doors. You can close the door and enjoy the view above the clouds. The suite converts into a bed at night, letting you sleep comfortably and peacefully. You can book this free of charge.
There are certain conditions involving this process of seat selection and reservations, which are as follows:
A seat will be allocated to you during the online check-in, even if you did not select one before. It can be changed based on the seat category and fee. This fee does not have to be paid by the passengers who have booked a seat in advance.
For booking seats in the emergency rows, you have to meet certain requirements, which are as follows -
HON Circle Members and Senators that are travelling on board with up to 8 people on the same booking number have privilege to reserve seats free of charge on flights operated by the Lufthansa Group, Lufthansa Regional (Air Dolomiti, Lufthansa CityLife), Edelweiss, or Discover Airlines in all booking classes (Except on the Economy Light fare on short-haul flights).
During online check-in, the option of selecting a seat free of charge with the Economy Light fare is only available on short-haul flights to HON Circle members.
If you need to change the previously booked seat due to operational reasons, etc, then a new equivalent seat will be reserved for you. Travellers who are travelling in groups, such as families are given importance in such cases of seat changing. Seats with extra legroom in the emergency exit rows, window, aisle, and the middle seats will be allocated in that order afterwards.
But in case a seat in the same category is not able to be allotted (e.g. by the aisle, window, or a seat with extra legroom), you can get a refund of the fee paid via the Lufthansa Service Centre.
Any advanced seat reservation can be cancelled or rebooked via “My Bookings”.
It is to be noted that advanced seat reservations cannot be refunded at all, either at the airport or on board.
Please note that you have to meet the legal requirements explained to you at the time of booking a seat in the emergency exit row. If you don’t, then a different seat will be allocated to you and you are not entitled to a refund.
In case of operational change (e.g. a change of travel route), a new seat in the same seat category might be rebooked. However, the previous seat number that you chose might change. If we can’t provide a seat in the same seat category, your advanced seat reservation is refundable.
Your advance seat reservation is also refundable in case of cancellation of your flight.
In case of you wishing to change your seat in your advanced seat reservation, it can be done so via “My bookings”.
These rules are bound to apply -
In case you change your flight with the same route, then your advanced seat reservation can be transferred to your new flight. But, just in case, your original seat category is not available on the new flight, then the following will be done -
You may have to pay additional costs in case of you change your flight route as well.
Advanced seat reservations alone cannot be refunded. It is, however, possible if you have purchased an upgrade to a higher travel class, but the advanced seat reservation of yours is still non-refundable. Free upgrades are possible to be offered as a goodwill gesture, but they don’t signify that you would get a refund for your previous seat reservation.
Even if you cancel your flight, your advanced seat reservation is unlikely to be refunded. However, with certain conditions, you can get a refund for your previous seat reservation together with your flight cancellation for Allegris Business Class and First Class seats.
Though, it is to be noted that if you only use part of your ticket, e.g., only BUD-FRA instead of BUD-FRA-NYC, the prior seat reservation is non-refundable.
In Lufthansa Airlines, there are certain things to be given attention with the involvement of children on board. If children from the ages of two to 11 are travelling on board, it is in everyone’s best interest to seat them next to an adult from their family or group. These seats are allocated at the time of check-in free of cost. But it is very much your choice to book an advanced seat reservation by paying the fee to ensure that your family or group sits together.
For Lufthansa Allegris flights in Business Class especially, it is strongly recommended for you to book your seats in advance as there are only limited seats that allow you to sit together.
On flights to and from Canada, if it’s not possible to seat your child next to your group, you have the option of cancellation or rebooking your flight.
It is for your awareness that you are entitled to free advance seat reservations under the regulations of ENAC (Ente Nazionale per l’Aviazione Civile [Italian Aviation Authority]) on flights to and from Italy if you follow these conditions -
